Living Room Tour

So we have finished up our projects for the living room and I finally found some time to photograph everything. Our cat, Mister, was in his usual spot (& I didn't have the heart to move him) so you will see him making a appearance in some shots. I am loving how everything turned out! I will go into some of our d.i.y projects for the living room in a separate post for those that are interested. The dining room gallery wall is also finished so I will be working on that post soon(ish?). We have a lot of visitors coming in the next couple of weeks so I will be busy spending time with friends and loved ones but I will get around to that eventually. (There is a sneak peek of the gallery wall in the last photograph if you are just dieing of curiosity, haha!)

So let's start the show with a before shot:

And here is the After:

I will explain more about our house and stuff in the House Tour but basically our house was built in the 1930's and has been a rental property (for mostly college kids) for the last 10ish years, so there is a lot for us to do around the house. Before we moved in we had the carpet tore up (we knew there were hardwood floors underneath and we also knew that they would need to be refinished, badly. For awhile, we will be rockin' the floors as they are...). We also had a handful of rooms painted before we arrived to help cut down on some of the work that needed to be done. We had the living room painted "Natural Gray" by Behr and the trim is a standard white. Ok, enough words... let's get to the pictures...

It's definitely not perfect but it makes us happy! Thanks for stopping by!

For the Love of Gallery Walls

... more specifically Kate Spade styled gallery walls. In a perfect world I would/ could blog every day (or every other day...) but this Happy Wife has been a very busy lady! Our number 1 project we have been working on is our gallery wall instal in our dining room. I never realized how truly labor intensive a gallery wall is!

I have been collecting  inspirational images, art, frames, ideas etc. etc. for awhile now. I thought this was going to cut down on a lot of the work (and it probably did) but it was still an exhausting project- and we aren't even all the way done! (There is light at the end of the tunnel but there is still some work to do...)

In addition to the gallery wall (picking out what art and images to use, getting the images printed, thrift-ing for frames and then arranging the overall composition) we also put up more shelves in the living room, painted a thrift store chair, finished painting our Ikea Rast Hack and some overall styling too! (I think I could be officially over interior design for a minute.

It will be nice when this little chunk of projects gets done because then I can work on our House Tour.

I am excited to show you guys what we have been up to but to tied you over I will share with you the gallery walls in various Kate Spade spaces that served as my inspiration:

New Coffee Table Reveal (And Easy Ikea Hacks)

Our living room was probably the one room in our house that I was most satisfied with.

Then we sold our old media cabinet that was in the corner on Craig’s List… which led to us selling our old black bookcase that was in the other corner… which led to needing a new coffee table… which led to new shelving and a recliner and possibly a different color couch? Before I knew it we were smack dab in the middle of a mini makeover!! I can’t wait to get it all done and put together to show you guys but in the mean time I want to show you our new coffee table… ** I’m so in love!**

The coffee table came from Ikea and comes with silver legs.  I had done an easy Ikea hack with this and these where I spray painted the legs of the table gold and the end cap brackets on the shelves gold… so the coffee table got the same treatment (I may or may not have a problem…)

Have you done any easy D.I.Y’s lately?

Addicted To Color

Before I go any further I have a confession to make… I have a full blown addiction to color. Like… I seriously can’t get enough. Scott is taking it rather well, especially because I was a total black and white kinda girl before. I could be the Queen of Black and White Stripes (and let’s be honest-that probably will never change.) But to go with my love of black and white stripes I liked loved black. Like all black furniture, black picture frames, all black everythaaang. Well, to quote one of my favorite Frank Turner songs, Photosynthesis “it's obvious my angry adolescent days are done and I'm happy and I'm settled in the person I've become” and it is clear my aesthetic has changed as well. Now I can’t get enough white furniture and Bright, Bold color. My obsession with gold is increasing at alarming rates as well. So… while I am getting my sh*t  photography together so I can share some of my own stuff… here are some of my favorite images that have been inspiring me lately…
